In this video I talk to co-founders Sachin Agarwal and Garry Tan about the vision, strategy and growth of Posterous (traffic is up 20-50% every month). We also discuss lifestreaming and some forthcoming news: an iPhone app and theming.

Glad to hear about the iPhone application. I thought that Tumblr's was great (in theory) but it never worked very well. Crossing my fingers for Posterous' app. Also funny it can be pronounced in two ways. Makes my idea for "PrePosterous" make more sense now.@LenKendall

Pretty amazing that only two guys without even an office have created Posterous.

Theming is what I'm most looking forward to. I think once that happens, my site will officially be hosted on Posterous.

I think Posterous has taken quite a few people by surprise, but I can totally see it become a huge deal not too far in the future. And as I had mentioned on my Posterous a few days back, I believe Garry and Sachin are it's greatest trump card. Thanks for this rare video insight, Steve.

Wow. I checked Posterous out a little while back, and while I liked the idea I thought it was still a bit raw. But with Theming coming available soon, and an iPhone app, I will have to take another look.

Traffic up 20-50% and with 2 now 4 people they still have the fastest, nicest customer service around. Especially for the technically challenged like me!

This really is a great service. And its nice to see they have a conservative approach to the business yet an aggressive approach to development. The amazing part of this service is that it works as advertised. Themes and an iPhone could be the tipping point and spell trouble for Tumblr, which has not innovated in quite some time.

Great to see the two masterminds behind Posterous! (in whatever way you pronounce that)! Thanks Steve for the interview. Keep rocking the blogosphere!

Great interview Steve. I really like Posterous and it's nice to "meet" Garry and Sachin. Did you record this video using your iPhone?
Steve Rubel said...
@Don I did. Pretty much all of my vids are created with the iPhone and posted as is.

thanks for the interview! These guys are great. I'm sending everybody I can to Posterous -- especially the lower-tech folks that would never try traditional blogging.

theming is imminent! AWESOEM!

Hey, these guys are cute, and Garry doesn't look anything like his avatar, lol! Steve's camera work doesn't do them justice. (What's with the glare on Garry, Steve?) Anyway, nice interview. More success to you, Garry and Sacchin and the posterous team.

iPhone app sounds very interesting, hope it works out. Don't forget those of us with the Palm Pre!

Theming will kick posterous into high gear, as will an iphone app. But it's the lack of both that really attracted me to posterous in the first place. It's ultrasimplicity, but effective and broad functionality is what brought me over from tumblr. You're a master Steve - keep it up!
