Including your note about the Austin Am-Statesman from September, and I think the mid-major/small market papers are definitely on to something. I'm sure the same model would work in college towns or even at a community weekly level.

The question is, how do you get to the majors to try something like this? They still have non-human, RSS driven Twitter streams and don't necessarily need a vehicle to crowdsource such content. Now, all biases aside, while the Philly Inquirer or NY Post be willing to try this around whatever city may host a parade later this week?
