How to Bring Back the Old Facebook Feed
On Facebook a lot of my friends are lamenting last week's switch to the new new news feed. (It's now split: the news feed shows trends from friends while the live feed is real-time.) Personally, I like the change. You can pick one. You're not forced.
"To get the "old facebook" back. On your main screen, on your left hand side click 'more' then click and drag 'status update' to the top of the list. Then refresh your page and it should be back to normal."

Me? I missed the live feed when it went away and I'm thrilled it's back!
This seems to show everything.
Status updates are EXACTLY AS THEY'VE ALWAYS BEEN: they're just status lines. Anything with a link, photo, video, or note, won't be seen by reading your status updates.

And for god's sake, QUIT SPREADING THIS MISINFORMATION!
That is, no attached links can be made with a status line; nothing can be attached to a status update.

the 'live feed' is no different at all from what it was before. they only added things to it, they didn't take anything away. they added notifications for when people become friends or fans of things.
the only difference is they removed the highlights, which sucked anyways, and added the completely useless 'news feed' as a replacement for the highlights i guess even though it appears to be arranged totally randomly.
but you don't have to even use the useless 'news feed'. just use the live feed and it works perfectly, just as it did before. the only thing i can imagine anyone complaining about is the fact that they removed the highlights section.
1. News Feed
The "new" curated feed
2. Live Feed
This option needs to be modified somewhat to get the "old functionality back. Simply click "Live Feed" and then go down to "Edit Options" down the bottom. Then change the number in the field from 50 to 5000. It will then provide a full live feed of everything your friends are doing on Facebook - from links to apps to status updates.
3. Status Updates
As you said in the post above, Steve...
The thing I don't like is that Facebook hasn't made it completely obvious how to do this, so people are confused.
Click on the Home Page after you are logged in.
On the Left Navigation Pane, click "Friends"
Under Friends, click "Status Updates"
Right click on "Status Updates"
Select "Copy Link Location"
Click on your "Profile" page
Click on your "Info" tab
Click on "Edit Information"
Under the "Contact Information" section, click in the "Website" text box.
Right Click in the text box
Select "Paste"
Click "Save Changes"
Now, you have added the "Status Updates" to your Info. You now have to make sure "Website" is something you see on your profile page.
On the Left-Hand side under Information, click the pencil icon.
Make sure there is a "check mark" beside Website.
Refresh your screen and click the link.
This works for me, so hopefully it works for you. If you already have a website listed, then you'll just need to continuously need to
Click "Friends" from the Homepage
Under Friends, click "Status Updates"
I'm more of a 1 click person!!!
