Gallery: Google Latitude Hits the iPhone

Google Latitude is now available for the iPhone. You can find it at http://m.google.com/latitude (hat tip to Webware.com for the link).

Below is a gallery with screengrabs I took on my train ride back home to Long Island. The service works as advertised. I could set my location, browse my friends and more. It's staggering how well location based services work in Safari.

It's certainly whiz bang. However, the bigger question is whether Google will gain traction here. Social has never been their forte. And Foursquare seems to be growing rapidly based on the number of friend requests I recieve each day.

Regardless, the collision of several forces - search, social networking, mobile and location - is just getting going. This is just the latest advance.
